Owain ydw i, cymro sy’n byw yn Awstria. Cefais fy ngradd baglor a gradd meistr mewn Ieithyddiaeth ym Mhrifysgol Ludwig-Maximilians ym Munich, ac ar hyn o bryd rwy’n dilyn doethuriaeth ym Mhrifysgol Fienna. Er fy mod yn arbenigo mewn ieithoedd Rhamantaidd a Llychlynaidd, mae iaith fy Nghymru enedigol bob amser wedi cael lle arbennig yn fy nghalon.

Ffaith drist yw hi bod y straeon ac yn enwedig yr iaith y Mabinogion yn cael eu hesgeuluso yn hanes llenyddiaeth y byd ac ieithyddiaeth, felly fe ymroddais i wneud fy rhan i’w cyflwyno i’r byd.

Dw i wedi bod yn casglu cyfieithiadau o’r Mabinogion ers fy mhlentyndod, ac yn ddiweddar dw i wedi cwblhau fy nghyfraniad fy hun i hanes y chwedlau hyn: y cyfieithiad cyntaf erioed o’r Pedair Cainc i’r Galeg.

My name’s Owain, I’m a Welshman who lives in Austria. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in Linguistics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and I'm currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Vienna. Although I specialise in Romance and Scandinavian languages, the language of my native Wales has always had a special place in my heart.

The stories and especially the language of the Mabinogion are sadly neglected in the history of world literature and linguistics, so I’ve decided to do my part to help introduce them to the wider world.

I have been collecting translations of the Mabinogion since my childhood, and I’ve recently completed my own contribution to the history of these legends: the first ever translation of the Four Branches into Galician.
